CANALLS Project Organizes Workshops in Rwanda and DRC

ETH and CIRAD embarked on a field visit to Rwanda and DRC, engaging in workshops with stakeholders from various Agroecological Living Labs under the CANALLS project.

The discussions also delved into potential synergies with RUNRES. In Rwanda, significant advancements were witnessed in cassava peel processing for animal feed and innovative toilet construction at bus stations for waste conversion into soil amendments.

In the DRC, sustainable rice fields incorporating Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) and System of Rice Intensification (SRI) were explored, along with coffee agroforestry systems. While the workshops were insightful and productive, they also highlighted challenges in establishing functional ALLs. Nonetheless, the collective determination to address these challenges, fueled by firsthand observations of daily struggles, assures overcoming hurdles on this impactful journey.
