CIRAD is the French agricultural research and cooperation organization working for the sustainable development of tropical and Mediterranean regions. CIRAD works with its partners to build scientific knowledge and agricultural solutions, and to design resilient food systems for a more sustainable, inclusive world. It advances science, innovation and training in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Its expertise supports the entire range of stakeholders, from producers to public policymakers, to foster biodiversity protection, agroecological transitions, food system sustainability, health (of plants, animals and ecosystems), sustainable development of rural territories, and their resilience to climate change. The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, (www.iita.org) is non-profit public research for development institution established in Nigeria by statute (Decree No.32 of 1967, now the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture Act). IITA generates agricultural innovations to meet Africa’s most pressing challenges of hunger, malnutrition, poverty, and natural resource degradation, while working with various partners across sub-Saharan Africa. IITA work cuts across 35 countries in sub-Saharan Africa with operations organise under four regional hubs namely: West Africa Hub, managed from Ibadan, Nigeria; Central Africa Hub, managed from Kinshasa, DRC; East Africa Hub, managed from Dar es Salam, Tanzania; and Southern Africa Hub, managed from Lusaka, Zambia. IITA is a member of the CGIAR System Organization, a global research partnership for a food secure future. In 2018, the Africa Food Prize Committee recognized IITA with the distinguished Africa Food Prize for its contributions to African agriculture and its economy over the years.

NIBIO main office is located at Ås in Akershus county, just outside Oslo. There are about 700 employees working in different parts of Norway. NIBIO vision is to become the leading national centre for the development of knowledge within the field of bioeconomy. The goal of the Institute is to contribute to food security, sustainable resource management, innovation and value creation through research and knowledge production within food, forestry and other biobased industries. The main areas of competence of NIBIO include forestry, agriculture and rural development, land use economics, food quality and safety, plant health, environmental protection and natural resources management. Its clients include private businesses, public authorities and agencies, consultants and individuals. NIBIO has been involved in a wide range of research and development projects worldwide funded by national and international donors (NORAD, EU, UNDP, WB, GEF, UNEP).

The University of Hohenheim is Germany's leading university for agricultural research and food science and promotes a strong interdisciplinary basis in its three faculties: Agricultural Sciences, Natural Sciences and Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. This combination makes it possible to find solutions to many global challenges.

For this reason, the University attaches great importance to maintaining a broad and diverse international network of partners. The University has a long research tradition in the global South and has accumulated outstanding expertise, especially in Africa-related research. In the last 10 years, it has collaborated and led more than 200 projects in Africa under different funding programs. In particular, topics such as global food security, sustainable intensification, bioeconomy, agroecology and digitalization, to name but a few, have been the focus of great attention at the University of Hohenheim.

Rikolto is an international NGO that works worldwide (Africa, Europe, Latina America, Southeast Asia) for a sustainable income for farmers and nutritious, affordable food for all. Across our three Rikolto programmes, Good Food for Cities, Rice, and Cocoa & Coffee, we work on three domains of change: Sustainable production; Inclusive markets and Enabling environment. For more than 40 years, we have been partnering with farmer organizations, private companies, authorities and other actors across rural and urban areas in East Africa (DRC, Tanzania, Uganda & Rwanda) to achieve food system change. In DRCongo, Rikolto has been present since 2005 in the Eastern provinces of Tanganyika, South-Kivu, North-Kivu, Ituri and Tshopo, before scaling-up to Western DRCongo. We encourage development in our three main programmes: Rice (South Kivu, North Kivu, Tanganyika and Tshopo), Cocoa & Coffee (South Kivu, Ituri and Tshopo), Good Food for Cities (North Kivu and South Kivu). Our 52 colleagues deliver support to more than 50.000 organized farmers who envision to impact at least 2 million urban consumers.

The “Université Catholique de Bukavu (UCB)” is a private University founded in 1989 by a decree of the Archbishop of Bukavu and legally accredited by a presidential decree in 2016. It is settled in Bukavu, in the South Kivu Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. UCB is ranked among the best academic institutions in the country. It runs 7 Faculties and 5 specialized schools and institutes. It offers Bachelor and Master degree qualifications in all faculties, as well as 7 Master's and Specialization and 2 PhD programs. Research is carried out in various departments and in specialized research centers. It also has a Center for continuous education. The UCB’s strategic objectives are (1) educate students and train human resources (French is teaching language), (2) conduct scientific research in all fields, (3) establish national and international cooperation to ensure scientific development adapted to the needs and the culture of the Congolese people, and (4) contribute to improving the population’s living conditions and to the development of the province and the country.

The Association Paysanne pour le Développement Intégré (APDIK) is listed as a community-based organization operating throughout Eastern DRC and headquartered in Bukavu town. It has been officially agreed since 2003 to operate within the provinces of South and North Kivu, with special targets in rural territories namely Fizi, Mwenga, Uvira, Walungu, Kabare, Kalehe, Idjwi, Rutshuru and Masisi. APDIK's mission is founded onto rural transformation through agri-food security programs and relevant economic sectors under full respect and harmony with Environment and local natural resources protection. APDIK seeks to restore peasant identity regarding fraternity, social justice and economic welfare under socio-cultural context. Thus, APDIK aims to promote sustainable agro-pastoral production technologies closed to mutualization of traditional and modern practices towards a clean and healthy food production as agro-ecological approaches Though this framework, APDIK is partnered with other international organizations likely Oxfam GB, Bread for the World (Germany) and Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (Belgium).

L'Institut des Sciences Agronomiques du Burundi (ISABU) is a public administrative institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock. ISABU's mission is to promote the scientific development of agriculture and livestock in Burundi through five research programs covering integrated water and soil management, plant production, animal production, valorization of agricultural and animal products as well as agrarian systems and rural economy. In addition, in collaboration with the various departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and farmers; ISABU programs, evaluates and disseminates the results of its research and experiments. ISABU also contributes to the training and retraining of technicians and specialists in the field of extension and agricultural research. One of the main missions of the institute is also the production of early generation seeds for many crops exploited in Burundi in order to disseminate them to quality seed multipliers.

Agricultural Research Institute for Development (IRAD) is a public administrative institution with scientific and technical status, endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy. As a secular arm of the Cameroonian state in agricultural development, IRAD is under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation. It also operates under the financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance.

IRAD provides scientific research and the promotion of agricultural development throughout the country, often in partnership with other state, regional and international institutions. The Institute is a reference centre for agricultural research. It promotes agricultural development, particularly in the fields of plant, animal, forestry, fishery and environmental production, as well as food and agro-industrial technologies. The identification of sector constraints and the programming of activities to be carried out take into account the sector strategies developed by the various ministerial departments involved in the development of the rural sector.

COPED LTD (Company for Protection of Environment and Development) is a social-profit oriented company operating in Rwanda from 1999. The core business of the company is to offer Environmental Sanitation Services including waste management, City cleaning & beautification, and Water and Sanitation services. We work with stakeholders and partners to foster long term urban sustainability in the Cities of Rwanda and abroad. By serving households, businesses, Public and Private Institutions of our cities, we are achieving our mission and playing our role in gradually turning partner cities into the cleanest and greenest cities in Africa. COPED is now developing and implementing Strategies to be able to increase its services on national & regional level. COPED works with academia and researchers to find appropriate solutions to the cities’ problems related to waste management and climate change by applying Circular Economy principles.

Maggot farm production limited, started way back in 2019, We started our production in brick structures, where by temperature tended to be low corresponding with production, until we shifted in green house since loving temperature for larvae is between 32-35oc, baased in Kayonza district, we expanded in Kamonyi district.Where we found enough land and we have a well trained staff totalling to12 both male and female with a campaign of rudicating unemployment at the same time to conserve Enviroment by recycling wastes as maggot ( BSF) feeds and organic fertilizers. We are highly working hard to cubdown the challenge of protein in Animal feeds by substituting Fish Meal which is so expensive and unavailable in the country, Our products have been tested in different laboratories and results are so amazing.

The African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) is the continental umbrella organization that aims at strengthening national Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS). Its mission is to promote lesson learning and add value to initiatives in AEAS through policy advocacy and lobbying, sharing of knowledge and information through increased professional interaction among AEAS providers. AFAAS goal is “Enhanced utilisation of improved knowledge and technologies by agricultural value chain actors to catalyse sustainable inclusive agricultural development to feed and create prosperity for Africa”. AFAAS operates through multi-stakeholder country fora that embrace public and private actors in the national agricultural innovation systems. AFAAS strategic pillars are. i) Strengthening and expanding network and knowledge management capacities; ii) Developing capacities for scaling out technologies and Innovations; and iii) Facilitating advancement of Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services. AFAAS upholds the 2014 Malabo Declaration and the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), the Science Agenda for Agriculture in Africa (S3A) among key Agricultural Research and Development frameworks in African continent.

Naturland is the largest international association for organic farming based in Germany. Our members form a large community from the fields of agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries, beekeeping as well as forestry and work together with partners from processing, trade and gastronomy. We aim to promote environmental protection and natural resource conservation through organic farming practices. About 140,000 farmers in around 60 different countries produce food in accordance with internationally recognized Naturland standards. Around 600,000 hectares of land worldwide are farmed by them. There are around 4,500 Naturland farmers in Germany and almost 1,000 partners process & trade our products.

Naturland was founded in 1982 by farmers and scientists with the vision : 100 percent organic, worldwide! Naturland has been accredited by the International Organic Accreditation Service (IOAS) in accordance with ISO/IEC 17065 since 1998.

In 2005, Naturland was the first organic association to introduce social standards. Naturland certification guarantees to consumers that products meet the strict ecological and social requirements of Naturland standards. We certify tea, coffee, bananas, pineapples, cocoa, sugar cane, spices, olives, prawns, salmon etc. Our quality benchmark is much higher than the EU’s, which has enabled us to gain the trust of consumers. Naturland Fair is a voluntary additional certification that combines organic farming, social responsibility and fair trade. With Naturland Fair, producers and companies can show that food can be produced in harmony with people, the environment and society.

The Sustainable Agroecosystem Group is an international multidisciplinary group committed to playing a role in bringing healthy food from fields to tables around the world for generations to come. We strive to do this while fostering a healthy environment that can be enjoyed by young and old for centuries to come. We are trying to add our modest contribution to this enormous task by effectively integrating experimental work with modeling to cover space and time from the micro- to global and daily to century scales. We focus on the farm and decadal scale because it is at these scales that decisions are being made. Within this broad subject we focus on how carbon and nitrogen cycling is affected by management and driven by the interactions between plants, soil structure, and soil biota.

The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is a not-for-profit organisation established to facilitate and promote public/private partnerships for the access and delivery of appropriate proprietary agricultural technologies for use by resource-poor smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. The projects that AATF implements with and through governments in Africa seek to address various challenges that affect farmer productivity including the devastating effects of climate change and the related impact of insect pests and diseases. AATF focuses on the most important crops for smallholder farmers, including maize, cowpea, banana, rice, potato, and cassava to improve food security at the household and national levels, and to drive improvements in incomes and livelihoods for farmers. AATF has operations in 24 African countries and has its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a country office in Abuja, Nigeria.

Number of members : 131 made up of women, young people and men who individually manage their farms with the support of the Cooperative Objectives: Develop intensive farming of cassava, cocoa, plantain, maize, soybeans of improved varieties, in order to support family farming as much as possible (sovereignty - food security) and increase, at the same time, the volume of processed products of quality and at very competitive costs in order to lay the foundations for a controlled and sustainable development of the main value chains which would ensure constant income for all our members and their community.

RAB was formed from three agriculture agencies, namely the Rwanda Animal Resources Development Authority (RARDA), the Rwanda Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) and the Rwanda Agriculture Research Institute. RAB has the general mission of developing agriculture and animal resources through research, agricultural and animal resources extension in order to increase agricultural and animal productivity as well as their derived.

CAPAD is an umbrella farmer organization in Burundi with 153,164 households of family farmers cultivating food crops, fruits and vegetables and also practicing livestock. Those farmers are grouped in 163 agriculture cooperatives located in 84 municipalities/communes in 17 provinces. With 20 years of experiences, CAPAD works in several areas of intervention, mainly the intensification of agriculture and livestock through the promotion of the use of organic fertilizers and bio-pesticides through the development of agroecological practices such as production techniques, biomass management, composting techniques, soil fertility and environmental protection. CAPAD works for rural entrepreneurship to increase the income of family farmers and thus improve their living conditions. He is objective is to represent and defend the socio-economic interests of farmers and support them in the development of economic activities.

GASD SERVICES SARL, Global Action for Sustainable development is a limited liability company operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo currently in the provinces of South and North Kivu. Created in 2009, AGDD SERVICES sarl, participates in and contributes to the sanitation of the city of Bukavu in the province of South Kivu and Goma in the province of North Kivu.

The social purpose of the company is any activity of environmental awareness and agriculture.

The main activities of the company are:

• Collection, transport and treatment of waste: this activity the Company has carried out since its creation in 2009. This involves collecting waste from households and markets in the two aforementioned cities to bring it to the transformation site and treat them. Biodegradable waste is transformed into organic fertilizer by composting and plastic waste into plastic paving stones.
• GASD has a field of more than 100 hectares in the IRAMBI KATANA Group in the South Kivu Province. Currently the company only uses a small part of this space in which it grows coffee and food crops. 

The Institut National pour l'Etude et la Recherche Agronomiques (INERA), is a public institution under supervision of the Ministry of Scientific Research and technical innovations, commissioned by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).Their mission is to promote agricultural development in DRC., through scientific researcher. INERA is involved in various programs focusing on enhancing food production, managing land and natural resources, and livestock.

The Cameroon Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services was set up in 2014 and formalized in 2016. In view of the importance of Cameroon’s development prospects and specifically of each of its five agroecological zones, CAMFAAS presents itself as an advisory body for all matters concerning rural advisory services in Cameroon.

CAMFAAS is a forum with over a three hundred members with multidisciplinary expertise in the agricultural services value chain. CAMFAAS works closely with government actors and international advisory services body like the Global forum for Rural advisory Services, the Africa Forum for agricultural Advisory Services –AFAAS and the West and Central Africa Network for agricultural and Rural advisory services. Our mission is centered on fostering synergy among various stakeholders, promoting integrated and innovative approaches to agricultural advisory services.

We advocate for the enhancement of the working framework of agricultural advisory services and the professionalization of the industry, aiming to create a dynamic and interactive platform that propels the agricultural sector forward.
