Embarking on a meaningful field visit, our partners from CIRAD, APDIK and INERA explored the dynamic landscape of BIEGA ALL.
At an agricultural cooperative uniting local farmers, the focus is on coffee and food crop cultivation. Within the cooperative, a vital initiative involves the production and distribution of seedlings to its members, fostering sustainable practices. Notably, BIEGA faces a unique challenge— a scarcity of organic matter from livestock farming, a consequence of historical events during the war. The region predominantly thrives on banana-coffee and coffee-beans crop combinations, mirroring the smallholder-driven agricultural landscape observed in UVIRA ALL.
