On Monday, September 29, 2025, the Ntui Agroecological Living Lab (ALL) hosted a TAPE results validation and utilization workshop at Hotel Les Chutes de Ntui. The event brought together 34 stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to discuss CANALLS’ findings.
What is TAPE and how it is used in CANALLS
The Tool for Agroecology Performance Evaluation (TAPE) was developed by the FAO to provide harmonized evidence on agroecology. TAPE is a comprehensive yet user-friendly tool that measures the multidimensional performance of agroecological systems across the different dimensions of sustainability. It applies a stepwise approach at the household/farm level, and it collects information and provides results at a community scale. It is designed to require minimal training and data collection, making it accessible for diverse contexts.
Within CANALLS, TAPE has been tailored to the project’s needs to monitor, measure, and evaluate both the socio-economic and environmental performance of agroecological practices.
Workshop objectives
The workshop focused on:
- Presenting and reviewing the results from the first two phases of TAPE.
- Engaging participants in discussions to verify and enrich the results.
- Conducting a collective SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, synergies, and trade-offs.
- Contextualizing findings within local realities and prioritizing actionable steps for agroecological transitions
Key takeaways
The workshop highlighted that agroecological transitions in Ntui are progressing, with suggested improvements in diversity and recycling practices. Participants recognized that the results reflect local realities and emphasized the importance of continued community engagement and monitoring mechanisms to further strengthen agroecological development.
Overall, the workshop served as an effective platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic planning, reinforcing stakeholders’ commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and resilient agricultural practices in the region.
